      The Role

      Job title: Junior Estimator / Designer – Fire Sprinkler Systems
      Location: Greater Manchester Area (on-site)
      Employment: Full-time

      You will develop detailed sprinkler designs and hydraulic calculations, prepare estimates and quotations, coordinate with internal teams and project stakeholders, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Day to day, you will draft plans, produce material take-offs, support tender submissions and provide technical input during installation and commissioning.

      Key responsibilities

      • Produce coordinated CAD drawings/layouts for BS 9251 residential/domestic sprinkler systems
      • Undertake hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing and head selection
      • Prepare estimates, BOQs and pricing schedules from drawings and specifications
      • Review employer’s requirements, fire strategies and building control comments for compliance
      • Liaise with engineers, contractors and suppliers to validate design and cost assumptions
      • Contribute to O&M documentation and as-built records

      Skills and Qualifications

      • Experience with CAD software and design tools (e.g. AutoCAD or Revit)
      • Understanding of hydraulic calculations and fire sprinkler system design principles
      • Knowledge of BS 9251:2021; awareness of BS EN 12845 is advantageous
      • Strong organisation, accuracy and time management
      • Clear communication and teamwork skills
      • Attention to detail with a practical, problem-solving approach
      • Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Building Services or Fire Safety are advantageous

      Desirable

      • Experience in residential or care sector projects
      • Familiarity with coordination across architectural/MEP disciplines
      • Full UK driving licence and ability to visit sites as required
